Families Rising Minnesota (FRMN) provides a statewide network of support services for adoptive, foster, and kinship care families. Support services are free and include 1:1 parenting support and education, online and in-person support groups, online peer-to-peer support, education support, and youth programming.

Support and resources for Minnesota families through SNAP and Medicaid disruptions

On November 1, 2025, SNAP food benefits will be suspended due to the ongoing government shutdown. This will affect more than 444,000 Minnesotans, including thousands of children and caregivers who rely on these benefits for daily meals.

Families are not alone – help is still available. We’ve compiled a list of community food pantries, meal programs, and free and low-cost health clinics across Minnesota. Share this information with families, advocates, and service providers.

Groups and Events

FRMN hosts many regular in-person and virtual support groups and other events for adoptive, foster, and kinship families. All groups and events are facilitated by experienced parents and/or professionals. Ongoing support groups can be found on the calendar. Pop-up groups, youth events, and other activities are regularly added to the calendar. Click on the link below to view and subscribe to our calendar.

Online Support

FRMN hosts a private Facebook support group that allows parents to share concerns and successes and offer support and advice to one another. All members must complete a survey. Click on the link below to request to join the group and to complete the survey.
